Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a widely used treatment modality for various mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected, and that changing negative thought patterns can lead to changes in feelings and behaviours. This then results to improve mood, reduce anxiety and leads to better relationships.

The therapy typically involves identifying and challenging distorted or unhelpful thoughts, developing problem-solving skills, and engaging in behavioural experiments to test out new ways of thinking and acting. CBT is a structured, time-limited therapy that is usually conducted over a series of sessions with a trained therapist.

It is highly collaborative, with clients actively participating in their treatment by setting goals, completing homework assignments, and practicing new skills in their daily lives. Research has shown that CBT is effective in reducing symptoms and improving overall functioning for many individuals.
